Spring has come. The plum trees are at full bloom. Spring is the season for leaving the nest for new life, too. To be private affair, my son got the job and will leave home, I miss him, but I'm going to write a parting gift letter for him. For everyone, spring is memorable season, I think. We enjoyed many warm and exciting speeches on calm and warm spring day.

Table Topics
Table Topics is a style of instant and impromptu speeches. The Table Topics master gives the audience a topic and assign a member as a speaker. The speaker MUST speak about the topic in two minutes. It's a good practice to develop quick response skill.
In this session, the Table Topics master gave us these topics as shown in below,
1. What makes you feel spring?
2. Do you have any plan or event in this spring?
3. If you have a power, what season would you like to create?
Comment: I could know that other members enjoyed the spring and had good memories in spring; vacation with family, spending time with friends. At the last topic, he told if summer had been dry and hot, we would have enjoyed comfortably in the summer. I totally agreed.

Prepared Speech
Prepared Speech is a speech according to manuals published by Toastmasters International. A speaker shall speak a speech based on the objectives on the manuals.
In the meeting, we had three prepared speakers.
1. Tips for calculation without pen
2. Mind the gap
3. Saccho Alliance
The first speaker talked about how to multiply or divide without pen. She said "it comes from India, children in India learn the method in elementary school. It's a miracle way, I was really amazed. Just check India style calculation on the internet.
The second speaker told us he and his team developed new technology failing and succeeding repeatedly in his company, but unfortunately they could not completed it by the dead line. They attributed the cause to psychological bias or not doubting what we believe is right. Through that experience, he lessoned minding the gap between truth and belief.
The last speaker addressed the Saccho Alliance where once unfriendly two clans(藩) teamed up to overturn Tokugawashognate and open Japan to the world. Saigo Takamori in Satuma, Kido Takamitu in Choshu and Sakamotro Ryoma in Tosa, those heroes devoted to their lives and achieved Meiji Restoration. I think we have to refer to their perspectives to solve today's challenges - like energy issue, grovel warming, population decreasing, undermining local areas and North Korea crisis.

Evaluation
In Evaluation session, the evaluators pointed out strong points of the prepared speeches and gave suggestions to the prepared speakers to make the speeches more effective.
I evaluated the second speech. I really felt difficult to point out good points and provide concrete suggestions. This role is so beneficial to improve to listen speeches carefully and to summarize the points in limited time.

Award Presentation
All attendees selected the best speakers for each session by voting and the MC gave the awards to the best speakers. Congratulations to all!
